Dr. Denie's Bio

Dr. Gardenia (Denie) Burks is the CEO and founder of Robinson Burks Consulting. She holds a PhD in Organizational Development (OD) from Benedictine University, IL. Before forming Robinson Burks, she worked as an educator in Higher Education as an Adjunct Professor in several PhD programs where she taught classes focused on Organizational Development (OD), Leadership and Change Management.

Prior to entering academia Dr. Burks worked in the corporate arena. She has held several positions, including Data Analyst, Critical Situation Manager, Corporate trainer, Process Manager and Program Manager with IBM. She was also Chair and co-Chair of the IBM Atlanta Women’s Network Group. Dr. Burks holds an Executive MBA in Business and Finance. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and was President of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association. She also holds a certificate in Integrated Supply Chain Management from MIT and received certification in the Socio-Economic Approach to Management, from University of Jean Moulin, Lyon, France. She is an active member of the Academy of Management and continues to present papers and research material in international conferences.

While working on her doctorate in OD, Dr. Burks worked with Sage Publications in conducting Pod Cast interviews with notable OD experts such as Professor Edgar Schein, Professor Bob Golembiewski, Marvin Weisbord, David Jamieson, Peter Sorensen, Billy Alban and Barbar Bunker, and many others.

Dr. Burks formed Robinson Burks Consulting as a motivational and consultation platform that seeks to openly collaborate, encourage and support organizations and its employees while ensuring every voice is heard as the organization pursues its strategic mission. She enjoys international travel and being emersed in the culture of the country she is visiting. “Reading about people is great, but to begin to understand people from a humanistic viewpoint, it is necessary to have an idea of their culture, from their daily and personal perspective.”
